Quite the hole we have made!

Take a hard look around the site. It may look like a big hole to some but to us it is a beautiful thing! The jute matting on the slopes protects the erosion, the rock entry path makes it possible for vehicles to get in an out of the hole. Formwork, critical to the structure, is well along.  We are literally building on sand and relying upon the weight and shear size of these concrete pads (called spread footings) to support the entire building. It may not look like much but it may be the most important piece in all we do. The footing for the stair case on the far side is 33′ wide x 33′ long x 3′ deep. The center hole is for the shear tower, more on that later…
